Dimaz Delima Industries, Serendah — From Visible Units to a Concealed Ducted System

A system-type change rather than a unit swap — concealed units need ductwork that did not yet exist.

Client

Dimaz Delima Industries Sdn Bhd — office premises at Serendah, Selangor.

Challenge

The office's existing air conditioning was ceiling-cassette and ceiling-exposed — serviceable, but visible in the workspace and distributing air from fixed points rather than through the room.

The requirement was to replace end-of-life units and change the distribution method, which is a different job from a like-for-like swap: concealed units need ductwork that does not yet exist, and the ceiling has to accommodate it. In an office, the point of going concealed is that the system stops being something you look at.

Solution

Two Daikin 5.0HP inverter ceiling-concealed units (FDMFC125A / RZFC125-3CCY-M, 42,000 Btu/hr each, SkyAir series) on three-phase supply, replacing the existing exposed and cassette units.

Because concealed units distribute through ductwork rather than from the unit face, the scope included new supply and return duct connections with collars — designed and installed as part of the replacement, not carried over from the old configuration.

Execution

  • Existing ceiling cassette and exposed units dismantled and removed
  • Two concealed units installed with insulated copper runs sized per position (25ft and 13ft respectively)
  • New supply and return ductwork with collars, two sets
  • Dedicated 4mm² power supply run to each unit, tested and commissioned
  • Indoor and outdoor serial numbers recorded on handover
  • Daikin inverter warranty registered: 1+1 years general parts, 5 years compressor

Outcome

An office upgraded from visible cassette and exposed units to a concealed ducted system, with the distribution designed for the new configuration rather than inherited from the old one.
